Press Release: The 30th AMEM and Its Associated Meetings

For the last three days, or even from Saturday, I was very busy on many preparation and arrangement of the 30th AMEM. Before, I was thinking to make some articles and share it here (or even in theenergycollective.com as I promised to them), but in fact, I can’t finish any article until now. One is because I have no free time (less sleep) and two is because so many things are not clear up yet, so that I can’t share it then.

But, at least, to merit my promise before, I would like to share the article on the Press Release:

PRESS RELEASE

Phnom Penh, the Kingdom of Cambodia, 12-13 September 2012 The 30th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (30th AMEM), and Its Related Meeting namely the AMEM-International Energy Agency Meeting, the 9th AMEM+3, 6th East Asia Summit Energy Ministers Meeting, AMEM Dialogue with the US-ASEAN Business Council and 2012 ASEAN Energy Business Forum under the Theme “ASEAN GREEN CONECTIVITY:, is being held at the Cambodiana Hotel,Phnom Penh. These series of high-level energy meeting are organized by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy (MIME) of the Kingdom of Cambodia as the host country in collaboration with the ASEAN Secretariat and ASEAN Centre for Energy.

The meeting are participated by the ASEAN Ministers on Energy, the Plus +3 Energy Ministers of the People’s Republic of China, Japan, Republic of Korea, the EAS Energy Ministers of Australia, India, New Zealand, Russia and the United States, the International Energy Agency (IEA) and Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia as well as Privat Setcor involving in the ASEAN Energy Business Forum. The opening ceremony of the meetings is organized in the Peace Palace on the morning of September 12, 2012, under the esteemed presidency of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techno HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

As a host country for the 30th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting Cambodia adopts the Theme “ASEAN Green Connectivity” which reflects the continuation from the theme of “ASEAN Connectivity” of the 29th AMEM Meeting iin Brunei Darussalam, and the theme “Energy and Climate Change” of the 28th AMEM in Vietnam.

H.E. SUY Sem, Minister of the Industry, Mines and Energy presented a synthesized report to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techno HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and National and International Distinguished Guests on the outcomes of the 30th SOME and other related meeting hedl consecutively from 2nd to 6th July 2012 at the Hotel Cambodiana for his wise recommendations and endorsement primarily on the implementation of the ASEAN Plan of Actions for Energy Cooperation 2010-2015 inter alia:

  1. ASEAN Power Grid
  2. Trans-ASEAN Gas Pipeline
  3. Coal and Clean Coal Technology
  4. Energy Efficiency and Conservation
  5. Renewable Energy
  6. Regional Energy Policy and Planning and
  7. Civilian Nuclear Energy

At the opening of the 30th AMEM, its associated meetings and the ASEAN Energy Business Forum 2012, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techno HUN SEN, Prime Minister, expressed his warmest welcome and profound countries and all delegates, national and international guest for their participation. In his address opening the 30th AMEM, Samdech Techno HUN Sen, Prime Minister highlighted the significance of the theme “ASEAN Green Connectivity” which focuses primarily on the energy production and consumption that minimizes impacts on surrounding atmosphere and society mitigates climate change. The Prime Minister also provided key reccomendations and perspectives on the implementation of ASEAN Energy Cooperation.

Apart from the above-mentioned meetings, the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy of the Kingdom of Cambodia in collaboration with the ASEAN Centre for Energy and Leverage International Firm organized the ASEAN Energy Business Forum 2012. The Forum was attended by  the Representatives of the Government, Non-Governmental Organizations, Private sectors, International Financial Institutions, International Research Institutes. The Forum provided a conducive platform to all stakeholders to meet face to face and exchange information, experiences, knowledge, know-how, and research’s results necessary for accelerating the development of Energy Sector. The ASEAN Energy Business Forum 2012 comprises of ASEAN Ministers of Energy – CEO Dialogue, Energy Conference, Energy Exhibition and Energy Awards in the area of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and Conservation.
