Information: ASEAN Hydropower Competence Centre (HYCOM)
Back again in Monday morning. I hope you all had a great weekend.
Just received the information this morning and I believe, for you who work or interested with renewable energy esp. hydropower, this is a very valuable information for you.
The information is about HYCOM or ASEAN Hydropower Competence Centre (HYCOM), an international training facility promoting mini hydro-power development (<1MW) and dissemination of know-how in the sector.
The Centre in which located in Bandung, West Java of Indonesia, is implemented by Technical Education Development Centre Bandung (TEDC) and PT Entec Indonesia, with support from my office – ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Promotion in International Co-operation (REPIC).
HYCOM offers high-quality training on all aspects of the development and implementation of mini hydropower (MHP) plants and builds upon a long experience in manufacturing equipment and implementation of MHP schemes in Indonesia.
Bandung is a great choice of place for hydropower centre as this is the city where a number of established turbine and equipment manufacturers founded their businesses.
HYCOM is also strategically located on the premises of the Technical Education Development Centre (TEDC) in Bandung. TEDC is well supplied with lecture facilities (educational infrastructure) and accommodation, which is ideal for trainings with groups of 15 up to 20 participants.
HYCOM is equipped with a high-class Swiss hydraulic laboratory and the building provides sufficient space for groups of visitors and features class and meeting rooms. It also has a number of equipments in the laboratory.
For complete information about their programme, you may download the HYCOM_Training Brochure_2012-04. This brochure will provide you an overview of the HYCOM services and includes a description of 7 training modules. This brochure will be continuously be updated and enriched with further modules in line with HYCOM’s capacity (for example a training module on “MHP Commissioning” was already requested).
It will be also available in bahasa Indonesia. So, check their website at www.hycom.info regularly for this or stay tune in this blog. I definitely will keep you update. Have a great week ahead!
PS: I’ve tried to upload the brochure here, but failed. Please email me, then.
Update: It’s working now.
Thanks to Arne and Mr. Hardiv for the information.
